practicality.
most thought that weddings are only held so as guests can celebrate the joyous occasion with the newly weds. it is actually also held to make people aware that the man and wife are married, and hence, out of bound for others.
this is when one usually questions whether to be practical or not.
i can be a very calculative person. doing economics, living on a tight budget during uni years, meeting a practical engineer and then, becoming a banker. how can one not be calculative?
and with this, i refuse to spend anything useless and impractical for my wedding to the dismay of others, especially my mum.
before i met him, i met a guy who felt the same way about weddings as i do. we only went as far as being friends but one thing that i will always remember is- 'why splurge on your honeymoon when you know you will be spending the rest of your life with him?'
then i met him. a guy of logic and practicality that usually drives me insane. when we first met (with no intentions of getting together!), we talked about what we wanted in our weddings (not to each other!). again, i found a guy who feels the same way- no frills wedding! i think i even told him that an expensive honeymoon should not be on the top of his list as he would be spending the rest of his life with his wife anyways.
unbeknownst (spikez *winx*) to both of us, i'll be the one without the expensive honeymoon. hehe. not that i'm complaining, actually, we don't even know where we want to go!!
now, if only we were successful in talk our parents into having a no frills wedding for us, we would be so much happier.
but then, everyone knows that their wedding is not actually theirs, its their mother's.
